Large-scale Russian Attacks Cut Power Across Ukraine's Capital

Power facilities targeted in the region
Ukraine's energy systems have come under increased strikes in recent weeks

During the night, Russian aerial assaults have led to electricity outages in large parts of the capital city, Kyiv.

A number of civilians were injured while residents in eastern districts were left without electricity and dealt with problems to drinking water, as stated by city officials.

At the same time, a young boy was fatally injured in a different assault in the southeastern region in the country's south-east, according to regional authorities.

Moscow has escalated attacks on energy facilities over the last fortnight, while Ukrainian leadership has called for "concrete actions" from international partners to exert influence on Russia.

"The necessity is not symbolic gestures but firm measures - from the America, the EU and the major economies - in delivering air defence systems and implementing restrictions," mentioned in a online statement.

Officials stated that 450 drones and more than 30 missiles struck the country's power systems, labeling such strikes as "cynical and calculated" and against "essential services" as the weather cools.

The energy minister said Moscow was "inflicting a massive strike" and repair crews were striving to repair systems.

A series of attacks damaged power facilities and civilian homes in Kyiv.

Five out of the nine people hurt in the strikes on the capital have been transported for medical care, as confirmed by city authorities.

Regional authorities said the city endured heavy assaults overnight. A minor died and three other people were hurt.

The attacks come after evenings of aerial attacks in the area, sections of which are currently controlled by Russian forces.

The entire country is in a state of readiness for advanced weapon attacks, which are harder to detect.

National leaders told the media that Russia was intentionally trying to damage the electrical infrastructure, with strikes already affecting energy systems.

Officials stated technical personnel and government agencies were bracing for more assaults.
