It's a challenge for the Australian squad to set fresh records.

The greatest achievements have been successfully scaled.

We're talking about the unit that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, along with six more T20 titles, and earlier maintained nearly four years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, the ones sought by the record chasers, are all that remain for a team that has won it all.

That it took as late as Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase above 300, regaining their record for the highest in the women's 50-over format, is, frankly, a tribute to the bowling attack that have represented Australia over five decades.

It is hard for their hitters to hold a record if not provided the possibility.

Ultimately, the result of Australia giving up 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy receiving a chance to produce her newest gem.

Originally famous as the young family member of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after Australia failed to win either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups conducted earlier and has seen it all through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 championship victory came three months after her first appearance and seven world titles have resulted from 10 tries across formats.

The tough gloveman was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India temporarily stopped the run of success.

That loss "pushed us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy said this week.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the championship match and was awarded tournament MVP. She made sure her country would not fail again.

The question of whether this recent magnificent innings exceeded that prior achievement can be debated.

Some will argue the case for the pressure of a final. Different voices suggest with the difficulty that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's clear is this ton was much more difficult to see coming.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 occurred when she led the batting statistics, but this innings followed six innings in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've observed me in the nets, it has been a challenging time because it appeared I lacked timing completely," commented Healy.

"Yet the moment you enter the playing area, your fighting spirit activate and you just lock into the match."

Healy's competitiveness has consistently been her great strength - and a priceless quality in replacing iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, fallen to the 22-year-old seamer in every game, but here that only provided Healy's motivation.

One run resulted off Gaud's first delivery and from there the batsman was on her way.

"The possibility to go out there and face the challenge with her and just have a bit of fun that way, kind of motivated me," commented Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 balls - her swiftest at the World Cup - and her hundred in 84 balls as she attacked short-pitched balls, striking 21 boundaries and three big hits.

When she was dismissed her side needed 66 additional runs at a run-a-ball - a manageable total now needing a comfortable finish.

"To chase 330 is new territory so I'm pleased we have the assurance to achieve that now," continued Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it another time but, if we do, we believe we can succeed."

That comment will be the last rival teams at this World Cup want to hear.

During the last week a belief they will triumph from any situation has only strengthened - this success following victory over Pakistan by 107 runs despite struggling at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before an encounter with old rivals England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final place may well be secure.

During that phase they were eliminated from the previous year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a game Healy couldn't play because of damaged tissue in her foot as she led her country for the inaugural occasion at a significant event.

So great is her will, she afterwards commented she wished she had played with the discomfort.

But while she afterwards confessed those injuries have pushed back thoughts of retirement, this championship is expected to be her concluding event as leader in one-day cricket and she is yet to win a global event as leader.

Success in India would bring her to the top of her ultimate challenge.
